The Internet has had unpredictable and far-reaching consequences. There are in fact thousands of possibilities that may happen in the huge world of the World Wide Web making it very difficult to predict what is going to happen next. In a dynamic marketplace such as the Internet, some ideas prove to work and some do not. There are certain ideas that prove to last long whereas the others enjoy just a fleeting moment of usefulness end effectiveness. One of these is the use of Meta tags and Meta keywords.
What’s wrong with Meta Keywords?
In general, metadata schemata make an enormous sense. With the use of Meta keywords, information becomes more particularly usable. However for now, most website owners still do not know what to do with Meta keywords and Meta tags. What we all know is that Meta tags are bits of information that are inserted by page authors and webmasters to tell us about what a certain page is about.
These keywords appear at the HTML document heading. Meta tags have two key types. The first type is the keywords and the second is the description. Although these facts are common, up to now, search engine consultants and their webmasters still have agony over the use of these tags. Their usability and effectives doesn’t prove to be as easy and as simple as learning keyword search and popular keywords.
Most industries are aware that Meta tags were victimized succumbed to the website owners opportunism. Most marketers and advertisers especially porn sites operators that made much money from the e-commerce in the mid part of the 90s made silly looking search engines. Search engines that concentrated on the use of Meta tags were riddled with insincere pages which used their Meta tags to get higher ranking from different searches until the filtering of spam began with the use of ranking filters and methods.
The Flaws of Meta Keywords
Nowadays, there are some engines that look at the usability of Meta tags and Meta keywords however, most of them increasingly focus on the visible text on pages and the off-page factors. These are the use of keywords search, popular keywords, and the link structure of the net and others for the purpose of measuring the page relevance.
Some major search engines like Google do not really bother about these keywords because search engines do not incorporate these tags in the summary of page contents. Because of this, many site owners are placed in awkward position as to whether or not they should use Meta keywords. Besides, there are many other factors why Meta Keywords are not really in demand and some of them are found below:
- There are very few Meta Keywords that will get you on the top ranking.
- Only very few crawler-based search engines use it at the moment. Most of them ignore it.
- Because only few crawlers support Meta keywords, they are not worth your time to implement them.
- Compared to the popular search engine techniques and methods, the use of Meta tags and Meta keywords require more skill and knowledge.
The above were just some of the few flaws of Meta Keywords that give reasons to marketers and advertisers to stop using them or not to use them. We are now at the crossroads of Internet searches and retrieval. As many have learned, Internet is a far different world than the closed and narrow world of librarians, newspaper, academics and other periodical archives.
Partly because of the need for continuity and partly because of some entrenched vested interests, there are certain ideas in this world that continue to live and stay on historical point of usefulness. In a world where relevance is dominant, certain ideas have become so irrelevant.
